Anger Management

Counseling to help you control your anger in Orange County

You do not want to lose control, you want to keep your cool, yet the anger keeps bubbling up. The most trivial things can upset you, set you off. You get angry, say things you regret, even scare your loved ones sometimes.  Often you regret it afterwards, wish you could undo it, say you are sorry, but it does not really fix anything because it keeps happening.  You ask yourself why you cannot just walk away, why do you have to dig in and fight, cannot let it go.

You do not feel heard, wish people would listen to you.

Angry Man

You feel like you have to raise your voice to be heard, yet it still does not work.  Feel like people do not take you seriously and do not think you know what you are talking about.  It is frustrating and you don’t know how to stop getting into that cycle of anger.  It’s starting to or is already causing problems in your life.

Your anger is resulting in problems at work and with those in your personal life.  You hear from others that they have to “tiptoe” around you because they never know if you will start yelling again or not.

Is it bad to feel angry?

Anger in and of itself isn’t bad, it’s how we handle it that can be problematic. Anger is a necessary emotion, it is a biological and natural response to perceived threats around us. The biology of anger is to help us fight when needed, our adrenaline gets released, muscles tighten, and our senses get stronger, we feel more powerful. However, having anger to that intensity isn’t always good, especially if it happens often. Getting rid of it altogether is not the goal, learning to control the anger is. Anger lets us know when things aren’t right around us, emotionally or physically.

Can you help with my anger?

Yes! My name is Katherine Boelts, LMFT, I’m a therapist in Orange County, CA, that specializes in helping people work with anger anywhere in California. I’ve been doing this for over 20 years and can help you with your anger! I work with adults that feel like their anger is controlling them, instead of being in control of their anger.  You are not alone, and you do not have to go through this alone.  My clients often are able to start taking control of their emotions, reduce their anger in general, which in turn reduces outbursts.  They find their voice and experience growth and change over their time in therapy, not just a reduction in their anger but an increase in confidence in their relationships, their career and how they feel about themselves. My clients typically have virtual sessions with me weekly so they have consistent support wherever they are.  I integrate anger management skills, coping skills, mindfulness, cognitive behavior therapy, thought reframing, and metaphors to help put things into context and help them move forward.

I can help you learn to manage your anger and still be heard.
